How we help debt collection agencies
Collection agencies engage us to re-establish contact on files that have gone quiet. We trace current addresses and contact details for individual debtors, and process entire ledgers at volume through datawashing — returning updated, verified data in the format your collection system imports.
The problems we are usually called about
A growing uncontactable segment
Every ledger decays. Addresses go stale, numbers disconnect, and an increasing share of the book becomes uncollectable without anyone deciding it should be.
Files being written off that are recoverable
A file is not uncollectable because the debtor cannot pay. Frequently it is uncollectable because nobody can reach them.
Right-party contact rates falling
Collectors burning time on dead numbers and wrong parties instead of working files that can actually convert.
New placements arriving with poor data
Portfolios purchased or placed with addresses that were already years old at the point of placement.
Compliance exposure on wrong-party contact
Contacting the wrong person about a debt is a privacy breach and a complaint, not merely a wasted call.
Cost per file has to work
Tracing only makes sense if the economics hold against realistic recovery on the segment being traced.
What we do for you
Ledger datawashing
Whole-of-book address and contact refresh, priced per file from $50, returned in your import format.
Pre-placement tracing
New placements traced before allocation, so collectors start on current data.
Individual escalations
Single-file traces on high-value accounts where the ledger run did not produce a result.
Recoverability assessment
Asset, company and bankruptcy searches establishing whether a file is worth escalating to legal.
Gone-away and deceased suppression
Identifying records that should be suppressed — stopping activity that would be inappropriate or wasted.
Recurring monthly runs
Scheduled tracing cycles matched to your placement calendar.
The real question
What is the real hit rate?
Every bulk provider quotes a hit rate, and the number is close to meaningless. A match can be returned against almost every record if nobody checks whether it is right. Collectors then work bad data, contact wrong parties, and confidence in the entire file collapses — which costs more than the tracing saved.
We do two things differently. Low-confidence matches are flagged as low-confidence rather than presented as confirmed, and same-name records are resolved rather than guessed. A smaller column of trustworthy results is worth more than a full column you cannot rely on.
We also sample before quoting. You see the realistic hit rate on your actual data — not an industry average — before committing a ledger. If your data will not trace well, you find that out before the invoice rather than after it.
Working with us
Fixed fees, confirmed in writing
Quoted before work begins, so the cost can be passed on or budgeted without variation.
Volume pricing
Bulk and recurring work is priced per file and falls well below individual matter rates.
One provider, every state
Australia-wide coverage means no second agent for interstate matters.
Reporting you can rely on
Every result comes with the record of searches performed to reach it.
Debt Collection Agencies — frequently asked questions
How much does bulk skip tracing cost per file?
From $50 per file, confirmed after a sample assessment of your actual data. We can also work to a set budget across a ledger.
What hit rate should we expect?
It depends almost entirely on your input data. Rather than quote an industry average, we process a sample of your file first so you see the realistic rate before committing the ledger.
What formats do you accept and return?
Standard export formats including CSV and Excel. Updated files are returned in the format your collection system imports.
Do you flag deceased and gone-away records?
Yes. Identifying records that should be suppressed is often as commercially valuable as tracing the ones that can be recovered.
Is your work compliant with debt collection regulation?
Our work is conducted in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and follows the joint ACCC and ASIC Debt Collection Guideline. We trace and locate; we do not undertake collection activity or contact the debtor as part of a trace.
Do you contact debtors?
Not as part of a trace. Tracing establishes location only. Where a matter requires the debtor to be approached or served, that is a separate field call or process serving instruction.
How do you handle same-name debtors?
Identity resolution is a distinct step. Candidates are tested against date of birth, known addresses, associates and employment before one is accepted. Where we cannot separate two people confidently, we report that rather than choosing.
Can you set up recurring monthly runs?
Yes. Ongoing arrangements scheduled against your placement cycle are common and reduce the per-file rate.
