How we help law firms & solicitors
Law firms engage us when a matter cannot proceed because a party cannot be found or served. We locate defendants, respondents, witnesses and beneficiaries anywhere in Australia, serve originating process and court documents, and provide a sworn affidavit of service ready for filing.
The problems we are usually called about
The matter has stalled
Proceedings cannot be issued or progressed because the other side cannot be located or served, and the client is asking why nothing is happening.
Service failed at the address on file
The address came from instructions taken months ago, the party has moved, and the attempt has already cost time and a fee.
A deadline is approaching
A limitation period, a directions hearing or a filing date is coming up and service has to be effected before it.
You need to know if it is worth suing
A judgment against a party with no assets is an expensive piece of paper. The asset position needs establishing before costs are incurred.
A beneficiary cannot be found
An estate cannot be administered and distributed until every entitled beneficiary is located and identified.
Substituted service needs supporting
The court will want evidence of genuine attempts before it will grant leave. That evidence has to be properly documented.
What we do for you
Service of originating process
Statements of claim, applications and originating process served personally, Australia-wide.
Locating a defendant or respondent
Where instructions contain an address that is no longer current, or no address at all.
Witness location
Finding witnesses before a hearing, including those who have moved interstate since the events in question.
Probate and estate matters
Locating beneficiaries and next of kin so an estate can be administered and distributed.
Pre-litigation asset position
Company, director, title and bankruptcy searches establishing whether proceedings are commercially worth issuing.
Enforcement support
Confirming a current address and asset position before enforcement steps are taken on a judgment.
The real question
Will the service stand up?
This is the question that actually matters to a practitioner, and it is the reason cheap service is a false economy. Service that cannot be proven is service that did not happen. A default judgment obtained on defective service can be set aside, with costs, months later — and the client is told the matter has gone backwards.
Every completed service is supported by a sworn affidavit recording the date, time, place and manner of service, and a description of the person served where identity was confirmed. Where service is not effected, every attempt is documented in the detail a court needs to see on an application for substituted service.
Where the address itself proves stale, we trace a current one and attend there rather than returning the file unserved. Tracing and serving in one engagement is faster and cheaper than discovering the problem and instructing again.

Law Firms & Solicitors — frequently asked questions
Do you provide an affidavit of service?
Yes. Every completed service is supported by a sworn affidavit recording the date, time, place and manner of service, in a form ready for filing.
Can you serve documents in all states?
Yes. We serve Australia-wide, in every state and territory, across metropolitan and regional areas — so an interstate party does not require a second agent or a separate engagement.
What if the party cannot be found at the address we hold?
We trace a current address and attend there, on your instruction. Handling the trace and the service in one engagement avoids the delay and cost of closing the file and re-instructing.
Can you help with an application for substituted service?
We document every attempt in detail — dates, times, observations and outcomes — which is the evidence a court expects to see before granting leave for substituted service.
Is your fee suitable for billing as a disbursement?
Yes. Fees are fixed and confirmed in writing before work begins, so the amount can be quoted to your client and billed as a disbursement without variation.
How quickly can you effect service?
It depends on location and the party's availability. Tell us the date by which service must be effected and we will confirm whether it is achievable before you instruct.
Can you locate a beneficiary for a probate matter?
Yes. Beneficiary and next-of-kin location is regular work for us, including where the last known contact is decades old.
Do you conduct asset searches before we issue proceedings?
Yes. Company, directorship, title ownership and bankruptcy searches are typically returned within 24 hours, which is usually faster than the decision to issue needs to be made.
